Transnational Partnership - Concentus

Aspire was one of four Transnational partners in a partnership called Concentus. Our partnership comprised of Aspire (UK), Bridge (Germany), Inclusion Refugees Network, (Italy) and Cultural Adaptation Centre (Poland).

The aim of the transnational partnership was to explore and develop new initiatives that foster more effective integration of asylum seekers by focusing on:

  • Support services for asylum seekers
  • Empowerment
  • Raising awareness/ tackling stereotypes
  • Joint study developing indicators for integration.

With ESF funding through the EQUAL Community Initiative, Sound It Out was the lead partner for Home from Home, a trans-national music and film project.

Working in partnership with organisations in four countries, Germany, Italy, Poland and the UK the project aimed to raise awareness about exiled musicians living in these countries, and to provide a positive message about the skills and talents they are bringing to their new countries.

Towards a Reflective Practice through transnational study visits

My Time Logo

My Time is an independent counselling practice based in the inner city ward of Small Heath, Birmingham.

Birmingham and Solihull Learning Skills Council and Birmingham City Council European Department worked with the other EU partners in developing the concept of professional workers (working with asylum seekers) undertaking study visits that would develop a transnational model of reflecting practice.

A reflective approach to professional practice involves changes in the way we usually perceive our practice and can produce changes in attitudes and awareness which can benefit professional growth.

While experience alone can be insufficient for such growth, that experience coupled with reflection can be a powerful impetus for development. The ultimate aim was to reflect how professional workers working with asylum seekers could learn from each other and directly change their practice.
